Why We Use Music In Our Business + Get Our Free Playlist
Today’s post is a fun one! Ready?
Normally we’re talking about all things business, and while that’s fun, I wanted to do something different. Today, I wanted to tell you guys about music, and more specifically how and why I use it in my business, and no, it’s not just for the name of products in our shop (though we love them).
So, let’s start with the why:
I love music, but that’s not the only reason I have it in my business. Over the years, dating back to my freshman year of high school, I have found that listening to music while working- whether it be on homework, brand design or a youtube video- has improved my productivity.
Now, I’m no scientist so I can’t tell you exactly why it helps, especially when it comes to the brain, but I can tell you what it does for me:
✨Music keeps my mind working- When I’m listening to music, I find that my mind is working on ideas, solutions to problems and other creative things, something that doesn’t happen when I’m sitting in silence.
✨Music can help you recall information- This really came in handy when I was in school. When I was studying, I always had a certain artist playing. When I went to go take a test, I would replay the songs that I studied to in my head and would recall all of the information I had gotten while listening to it. This is helpful for when you’re preparing for meetings with clients or writing briefs, as you’ll remember the information later on while playing the songs in your head.
✨Music breaks the silence- Okay, so this one is super important if you’re like me and can easily get sucked into your work while working. When I’m working without music, I find myself getting pulled into a silent brain session (at least that’s what I call it) where I completely tune out the outside world. Now, that would be totally fine if I was working for myself and not working with clients and companies, most of whom usually expect a response in a timely matter. When listening to music while working, it helps keep me in the real world.
Okay, I get that some of you are probably rolling your eyes and asking yourself why you’re reading this, and the answer is you want to listen to music while working and incorporate it in your business but are unsure of how to do that. Well, you’re in luck! I have some things that may be able to help you out!
🎵 Productivity Playlist 🎵
Create a playlist full of music that keeps you productive. This may take some trial and error, but find artists that you love listening to that have music and beats that keep your mind engaged. Some of my favorites are All Time Low, Panic! At The Disco and 5 Seconds of Summer.
To save you some time, I made a productivity playlist on Spotify that you can check out and listen to yourself:
🎵 Project Playlists 🎵
Similar to productivity playlists, project playlists are perfect for when you’re working on client projects that have a certain theme. You can create a playlist full of music that relates to said project that can help your productivity and creativity.
🎵 Brand Inspiration 🎵
Okay, if you’ve checked out our about page, then you’d know that we have a brand music genre- pop punk- and a lot of that music you can find on our brand playlist, which is what we use for a lot of brand inspiration. You can find music that echos your brand and it’s message and use it as a way to get more inspo for your brand and to share with potential clients so they can connect with your even more!
Having music for our brand has been so helpful, as it helps us be super productive and it helps potential clients connect with us on a deeper level.
Do you have a productivity or brand inspiration playlist? If yes, share it in the comments! If no, let us know why!
